Learning from George book launch - plus - Story of a Bookstore with Roman Kratochvila - plus - a screening of short comic film Moko & Loupe
Learning from George is an essay-memoir about the legendary Shakespeare & Company bookstore, and its Don Quixote-like former proprietor George Whitman. In 2000 Adrian Hornsby arrived in Paris searching for literature, and spent the next three years managing the store, watching the poets and ragged dreamers passing through, and finding that what both books and bookstores truly reveal are lessons in humanity.
In 1999, Wyndham Wallace was hired as the UK publicist for Lee Hazlewood, the legendary but often neglected singer, songwriter and producer best known for ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin’’. Wallace will read from Lee, Myself & I, as well as sharing rare film footage and music.
Our master of ceremonies "1130" will host guest poets & authors for short readings of their work.
Following the guests the stage will be open to anyone who may wish to occupy it and share their poetry.
Entrance is free and we look forward to seeing you there.
